Youth Birders' Walk from 10 am -12 pm at Great Swamp Management Area
Walk leaders – Matt Schenck, Susan Delfs and Mark Pagliarini
open for children between the ages of 8 to 18 and their parents/guardians
The Young Birders' Initiative will bird and hike at the Great Swamp Management Area in South Kingstown, located here.
We will meet in the parking lot by the information kiosk. Dress for muddy trails. Depending on conditions and species sighted, we may be walking up to 3 miles. Binoculars are encouraged, but not required. Children under 14 require a parent/guardian chaperone. Children over 14 with a permission slip may be dropped off and picked up at the end of the hike. Birds, Trees and Habitats at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. 8am-11am
Get ready for spring migration!! On this unique walk, we will explore Swan Point Cemetery and learn to identify not only the early migrants and lingering winter birds we see but also habitats. We’ll discuss basic tree ID, how to identify habitats and learn which species of birds prefer these trees and habitats. We will meet on the lawn area just outside the main gate. Please park along the main road before or after the apron that leads to the gate.

7:00 AM -- Birding Cumberland Farm Fields , Middleborough, MA
Walk leader – Leslie Bostrum
Meet at the parking area on River Street (north end of the fields) at 7 am. Wear mud boots and dress appropriately for the weather. Bring binoculars and scope if you have one. Walking distance at least one mile. The walk will be “on” unless it is pouring.
Come and see what early migrants may have arrived in the fields, as well as late winter birds that may be hanging around. Cumberland Farm fields are a mixed habitat of fields, cultivated areas, thickets, trees, and standing water and attract a variety of birds. We will also check out areas on the East side of the fields where there is swamp, open field, and wooded habitats. No bathroom facilities in immediate area.
I will be driving from Providence East Side and can take 3 passengers. Contact me if you want a ride at 401 351 4423 or [email protected]
Directions: Take 95 north to 495 south, exit on rte 44 east to 105 north and turn right on river Street off 105. Parking lot is on right about 1/2 mile from 105. Car pooling suggested if possible.

Walk the Great Swamp Management Area in search of early migrants, plants and other signs of spring! Meet at the gate beyond the main DEM Headquarters.
