Biographical Background

As both a bird watcher and environmental educator with both youth and adults, Alex Dunn has long grappled with the question, "how do we learn and what do we gain from becoming a bird watcher?" Using lessons from his field and teaching experiences, and drawing on learning theory, Alex will explore how bird watching can lead people of all ages to a broader understanding of nature and a better appreciation of critical environmental issues.
