Pawtucket Reservoir Shorebird Walk 

Pawtucket Reservoir, Cumberland 

The Muddy margins of inland ponds and Lakes are great stopover habitat for migrating shorebirds. Join Dylan Pedro on a walk along the shores of the Pawtucket Reservoir in search of the usual migrants such as Least & Semipalmated Sandpipers, and less common visitors such as American Golden Plover & Baird's Sandpiper. 

Meeting Location: We will meet at the parking lot nearest the baseball fields along Nate Whipple Highway. The lot is right next to the Arnold Mills Cemetery (click here for google map directions)

Important Information: This walk could last a few hours and sunscreen and water are highly recommended

CT River Swallow Cruise
Departing from Haddam, CT

Join club members, the excellent crew of the ‘Adventure’ and Dan Berard for a cruise along the Connecticut River to see the amazing roost of thousands upon thousands of Tree Swallows that accumulate here at dusk. In fact, there are so many swallows gathering here that they show up on radar! This is really one of New England’s most amazing bird spectacles!

While Tree Swallows are the main attraction, we will also see Bald Eagles, raptors, ducks, herons, shorebirds and who knows what else as we enjoy a leisurely cruise down the CT River.

You may bring food and beverages on board. There is no bar to purchase either.

Middletown Hotspots 

Middletown (various locations)

With numerous agency's protecting land for conservation and recreation Middletown is fantastic place to spend a morning birding. For this trip we will visit several locations with a diversity of habitats. Several locations along the way have a history of attracting rare birds from so we will be on the look out for rarities along the way.
