Aquidneck Island Waterfowl Tour

Portsmouth, Middletown, & Newport

From rocky & sandy shorelines to large ponds & reservoirs Aquidneck Island boosts a long list of migrant ducks and waterbirds. On this trip we will focus our attention on areas known for waterfowl watching including St. Mary's & Sission Ponds, Third Beach and others.

Meeting location: Sandy Point Beach

Leaders: Matt Schenck mschenckee@gmail.com

Saturday, March 18, 8am. Full Day Trip w/ The Forbush Bird Club
Charlestown and Jamestown Area Hotspots.

We will meet at the Tower Hill Park ‘n Ride and bird local hotspots such as Trustom Pond NWR, Card’s Pond Rd, Beavertail State Park, and other  locales based on time and which birds are around; our destinations will be dictated by the bird activity. A scope is recommended but not necessary. Bringing a packed lunch is recommend as this trip will run beyond 12pm and not have a set end time; we’ll keep birding as long as we find birds!

Due to parking restrictions at certain areas we are visiting, carpooling will be necessary to ensure all cars will have room. If you’d like to find a carpool to the meeting location, we can try to help you find one!

Note - If you are unable to meet at the park 'n ride, please coordinate with the leader. Due to the nature of this trip, the birding locations will be decided the morning of based on bird activity and recent sightings which often makes for an incredibly productive trip.

Meeting location: Tower Hill Park ‘n Ride (At intersection of Bridgetown and Mooresfield Rd, South Kingston). Click here for Google Maps directions to Tower Hill Park 'n Ride
