Bird Walk at Touisset Marsh Wildlife Refuge

We will walk the trails of the 66 acre Touisset Marsh refuge through its salt marsh and bordering upland field and wooded habitats looking for resident and nesting birds. A trail from the Touisset Fire Station on Touisset Road leads through fields to the Kickemuit River.
Bring binoculars and insect repellant and wear footwear appropriate for trail walking. Heavy rain cancels walk. Generally easy and level walking.
Directions: From Barrington, take 114 South to Route 103 (Child St.) in Warren. Go left (east) on 103 to Long Road. Go right on Long Road and follow to end at Barton Ave. Go left on Barton then take first right onto Touisset road. Follow it south to the second sharp left corner at the fire station. Turn right into the parking lot area and park at the westernmost edge of the lot.

Saturday, June 25th, 8am - 10am - YOUTH WALK
Arcadia Management Area - Breakheart Pond
Are you a birder (or know a birder) ages 8 to 18? This walk is tailored just for you! We will be birding the trails around Breakheart Pond. Please note the start time of 8AM. Hike could potentially be as long as up to two miles on a well-trafficked, groomed trail. The Breakheart Pond Trail travels through many habitats, including a lake, streams, and open woodland. Potential birds include herons, warblers, thrushes, waterfowl and more. Please keep in mind that since this is near water, insect activity could be high. Children aged 14 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, teens 15 and over may attend the walk without a parent/guardian present.
