Birding the Block Island Ferry

Galilee Harbor & Block Island Sound

Take a ride on the Block Island Ferry in search of the seabirds of Block Island Sound. The hour long ride on the traditional ferry from Point Judith to Block Island offers opportunities to see several species that are difficult to see from land including several species of Shearwater, & Wison's Storm-Petrel along with some more common sights such as Terns and Gulls. The Ferry departs at 8:00 AM with a return trip from Block Island at 10:00 AM.

Meeting Location: We will meet along Galilee Escape Road (Click here for Google map directions) and bird the marsh until it is time to board the Ferry. If you are planning to stay on the Island (not taking the return trip at 10:00 AM) you will need to park in the paid lots for the ferry.

Important Information: Participants are responsible for purchasing their own ferry tickets which are available at the counter the day of the walk or online here (There are no refunds for pre-ordered tickets).
